Oh well !!

Oh well, what a sad way to end the season. As a club, we seemed to be heading in the right direction for most parts of the season. We had a couple of blips but we overcame those quite admirably. Injuries have been a problem for not one season, but for numerous past seasons. I wonder how we are going to overcome that problem.

Anyways back to the Wigan game. With already half of the first team out for the season, we played alright till the 80th minute i.e. the time when we conceded the first goal. Now as a top class football club, you expect to hold on somehow and take the three points. And with added incentive considering that the league leaders had lost on the previous day. But unfortunately that was not to happen.

And how did we concede? Of course no proper defense and goalkeeping blunders again. It's been a problem ever since the departure of the mad Jens. Almunia has been decent in patches but he commits far too many mistakes as the first choice of a top club as Arsenal, and he has been atrocious for most parts this season. With Almunia having a mysterious wrist injury, we had the greatest backup in the form of Lucasz Fabianski. I mean we are talking of someone who has committed howlers each time he plays for Arsenal. He did okay on a few occasions but did not seem ever commanding in the box. I wonder when Wenger will learn that to win a championship, you need a proper defence and a top notch goalkeeper. Of course you need the goals and assists, but without proper personnel in goal and defence you are always going to concede in some way and that has been Arsenal's downfall this season. We have easily gifted a minimum of 10 points away through goalkeeping errors or defensive lapses. That is just unacceptable.

The sad thing seems that Wenger needs one season to understand each deficiency. We sort of fixed the defence with the master signing of Vermaelen, but with the howlers committed by Almunia and co. we are back to square one. While it is commendable that we make the top four with such remarkable consistency thanks to Wenger, he is equally responsible for his blind faith he has shown in some of these players. He just needs to be ruthless now and accept the fact that some players need to go with immediate effect. For that, he needs to overcome his ego and yes he does have one. With one more season left on his contract, I hope he can rectify his errors and bring Arsenal Football Club glory in the league at least. I would also like to see proper first teams fielded in the Carling Cup and FA Cup and those trophies cannot be chucked away. When Man Utd and Chelsea can play most of their first teams in these cups, why can we not?

If Wenger cannot see the pain of the fans yet, he seriously needs to go. And no one is asking for drastic changes in the squad. A top class GK, selling Fabianski and Silvestre (for sure), a solid central defenders like Hangeland and a proven midfield player to compete against the likes of Denilson, Nasri, Rosicky, Walcott and Diaby.

Our team should look something like this the next season -

---------------Gordon/New GK----------------

---Sagna---New CB---Vermaelen---Clichy---

---------------------Song------------------------

--------Fabregas-------------
New CM---------

-------Chamakh-----RvP-----Arshavin--------

Subs - Diaby, Walcott, Rozza, Ramsey, Djourou, Denilson,
Eduardo, Gibbs, Eboue, Mannone, Almunia, Szecseyny, Mannone, Traore, Campbell, Wilshere

Vela needs another loan season and so does Mannone. Almunia can be no. 2.

I would ideally like Wenger to manage Arsenal for ten more years but he has to make these changes and deliver trophies consistently from here on in and that is the bottomline.

Blogging - MBA - Are they related?

How are you dear people?

Yeah... its time for me to blog as well... !! I created my blog profile sometime in June 2007, but its taken me a good year and a half to write my first blog! Well, why's that? Nothing in particular, besides the fact that blogging seemed a really time consuming activity for me! I probably did not have the patience to write one!

So what changed that? It's easy. An MBA. I am into my second quarter and the number of papers that I have written makes me feel that I can go on writing for ever! The topics have been wide and varied and one can spend quite some time pondering on what he or she has written!

I have had Economics, Management Technology, Finance, Marketing, Business Law, Organization Behavior and many more topics to write on!

So, there you have it. Blogging. Anyways, I have to get back to some work now. My law paper is still work in progress i.e. more writing!

Cheers!
